Yahoo Updates Konfabulator
I am posting this simply because I love the word "Konfabulator".
"InformationWeek is reporting that Yahoo! has released a new version of Konfabulator, now rechristened 'Yahoo Widget Engine'. From the article: 'Widgets are useful to portals because they can draw users to their services directly from the desktop, without first having to launch a browser. By providing a more direct route, portals are trying to increase the use of their services, which are tied to online advertising. Yahoo rival search engine Google Inc. also offers widgets.'"[via: slashdufabulator]

"konfabulator" sounds like a word from the Dr. Seuss books.

A waste of a good idea. Why bother spending R&D funds on something if you're not going to tuck the spyware deep enough to not be obvious in the first five minutes? Or maybe I'm just intimidated by the word konfabulator.

Why do you love the word Konfabulator?
Maybe because it is derived from the word 'Confabulate'.
To Confabulate is: 1. to confuse imagination with memory, and/or to confuse true memories with false memories, 2. to have a tendency to create fables, stories, or narratives.
...So maybe a Confabulator is someone who uses the power of their imagination to create a compelling narrative or to produce a good storyline or fable...
I think i get it!
