Heh, the things you learn when you don't let the "liberal media" inform your every opinion.
THAT is exactly what the spin machine wants you to believe. That the blame rests soley on the governor's and mayor's shoulders.
It's the same spin machine that got *some* people believing saddam hussein (1)had something to do with 911, (2) had WMDs and the capacity to use them against us, and (3) that *liberals* are cowards in the face of terrorism and only want to get therapy for those terrorists.
they and their ilk also got *some* thinking that john kerry is war criminal and wouldn't protect america from disaster. They did a great job coming to the aid of and protecting new orleans, huh?
people are sick of the "blame bush" crowd? well, i'm fucking sick to death of the blame liberals and everybody else crowd and our "take no responsibility" Administration.
it's disgusting the bush admin can get away with so much gratuitous incompetence.
I think it shows, though indirectly, that there was blame on local and federal level. Did you see all the school buses underwater? That makes me so mad I could fucking spit. But yes, the feds were complete idiots when it came to dealing with a crisis in a non-election year.
To bring it up to date: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/katrina_brown;_ylt=ArmwPyojmShDx_r06TXsinys0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA2Z2szazkxBHNlYwN0bQ--
Director Michael Brown, the principal target of harsh criticism of the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina, was relieved of his onsite command Friday.
I think that the real question is: Will this even make a difference in the upcoming midterm elections? After all, Michael Moore was never disproven to my knowledge when he said that Bush had prior warning of 9/11 and that certainly didn't make a difference in 2004.
Actually, the two events(9/11 and Katrina) seem very similiar in many ways-president on vacation--warnings from subordinates ignored....According to the latest polls I've seen, Bush has a 42% approval rating!!!! Who are these people??? "Hell, New Orleans is underwater, Iraq is about to be taken over by Iran, and gasoline is $3.50 a gallon. But I'm saving nearly 4% on my tax return, so I'm all right."
Maybe nobody would vote for Bush again if he could run. But what about the next guy who promises something for nothing(services for no taxes)? Are American voters just a bunch of rubes throwing money at any snake-oil salesman who comes along?(Check out the turn-of-the-last-century lingo...)
