Late night phone convertion with Brian

Guilt is an early warning system in our lives. It means your actions and your values are not aligned. So if you are feeling guilty you need to either change your actions or change your values. However, the act of feeling guilty gets in the way of changing either.

amen sister, preach on

who is brian?

I think I know what you mean. But if you change your values - isn’t it like you would become someone else entirely? I struggle with parenthood for the moment and guilt is a big part of how one could improve actions and future decisions...

Cheer up... in the end, everything you touch turns to gold :O)

sometimes guilt is a good thing, it means you still care about you values. shadowhawk

I hope you're not suck in the rut of feeling guilty, stagnation in life never leads to good things. Life won't stand still for those who don't know where to go, or what to do.

But personally in these situations I never compromise my values, unless its blatantly obvious that they're wrong. Typically its actions which lead to feelings of guilt, and thus thats where I place my focus. But like said by Shadowhawk, sometimes guilt can do you good. It forces you to analyze situations a little more thoroughly than you typically would, and make you reconsider your actions the next time a similar situation occurs.

I like to think that negative emotions and feelings are a signal that there's a lesson in life to be learned.

Never give up on something or someone you love.

sunbooyst cookies, light of my day!

Great. Now I feel guilty.

Not sure about what, but I'm sure there's something.

we're all guilty of something...I always feel guilty leaving the toilet seat up.

having no idea what you feel guilty about; remember that feeling guilty often means you've taken on someone else's value system. In other words, succumb to your own sense of right and wrong before you decide to feel guilty.

And yet don't get too sucked into it. So often I find I'm the only one paying attention to the guilt I feel.

It also often means you've got drunk and kissed someone else.

You have an outstanding good and well structured site. I enjoyed browsing through it » »
