Namco, Bandai announce merger

"In what can only be filed under the category of unexpected news, Bandai Co. Ltd and Namco jointly announced that the two will be setting up a joint holding company. Set to complete on September 29th, 2005, the merger will see the formation of Namco Bandai Holdings Inc. The newly formed company will rank in as Japan's third-largest videogame and toy business, arriving after both Nintendo and Sega Sammy Holdings."

Hmmm...

Well at least now we'll see some kind of good Dragon Ball Z fighting game.

first thing i read this morning from japan today... good news. the japanese game industry is wallowing in this recession for way too long.

very telling, how bad things are, when you see how easy it was for microsoft to woo japanese developers to their new platform -- especially held against the dismal sales of their current platform.

sega sammy was a very good/profitable tactical move. this will be one as well. more leverage against the ea king behemoth...

I like. Alot.

Ooooo, hopefully they can make some decent Gundam games..YOSH!!!
