Rifts: Promise of Power Preview
"For fans of Kevin Siembieda and his pen-and-paper role-playing game Rifts, the dream of a video game based on the popular franchise has long been unfulfilled. For 14 years, Kevin refused all licensing requests for a video game, but that has finally changed. "[via 1UP.com]

This is definitely some good news. As an elder and dork of the game rifts, I welcome this news. Thanks for the post and great work with your page.

They need not defend themselves. Everyone know's they're sponsored. They passed up the 1st place prize at PAX for this reason.
What you have here are "sound byte" happy deflators. Sure Ubi-soft is their sponsor. Great!
One thing they were totally wrong on is that all of the Frag Dolls are "cast." It seems they imply not all are gamers. Bullox.
I know Seppuku. Granted not well, but I worked with her for a bit. Definately a gamer. Kat and the rest, you have no need to respond to these opinionated folk.
As far as sponsorship goes, the commercial giants of the world are reading the writing on the wall. More and more people are spending time playing games, instead of watching TV.
As an example, Underground 2 has Burger King and Nextel ads in the game. We are going to see a lot more "Professional" teams out there.
As for Rifts online... never was a rifts fan.. could never wrap my mind around mega damage vs normal damage ect ect ... Though I did like the world concept.
I'm looking forward to D&D online myself.

See, Rifts might be fun, but I dunno.
Kinda hooked on Ratchet and Clank 3 online right now. :)

By far the best write up on this game I have seen yet.
We are doing a tour on the 29th - 3rd. Has Andrea contacted you yet?
We would love for you to get a look at our new games.

I will def make sure you get a copy of PK.
I am not sure if I will joing the team or not, depends on my need to be there vs. my need to stay in Vancouver and handle some games ;-)
Will keep you posted, if I am coming we should go for a drink and discuss how November 9th consumed our lives haha.

I am and was a HUGE RIFTS fanatic...and am saddened to see it come inly to this platform... [though I will have to buy it]... I just wish it was on XBOX and XBOX LIVE...
the RIFTS universe is sooooooooo COOL!
on another note...Kevin Long, an artists featured in many RIFTS books has a home at fellow game developer RAVEN...interesting trivia, no?

Now, see, I would have had a bit more excitement about this if I knew what it was. When Nokia introduced it at E3, they didn't even give us that much of a preview or hands-on or anything. They just said it was coming and turned the focus back to Pathway To Glory.
That's the thing with hype. So much can only go so far with not enough details revealed. Upon reading your great write-up, Kat, I may be prompted to give it a good look. :)
