Pocket Kingdom recap

OK, so Cranky and I have been talking about this via email, so I thought I would put a disclaimer on this site. I just finished an article on "The Pocket Kingdom" which is being called the first mobile/global MMORPG. I will agree it is simply an MMO on a mobile phone, but that has not been done before in this way. There have been cooler mobile MMOs that used GPS and location to actually offer new gameplay, however, this is the first game of its specific kind.

I used the phrase in my Nokia write up that it wthey were "changing mobile gaming" rather than simply making miniature console gaming. Well, considering they are modeled after XBox Live, I will have to take part of that back. I was referring to all the direct ports or part ports you see on handheld games, but I do feel N-Gage Arena took XBox live a step further than even Microsoft did.

But to me, introducing one of the most popular genres to one of the most common platforms is exciting for me, but I will agree it does not really innovate anything, unless you place an importance on the technology and the fact these phones are always connected.

Empowering lots of people and introducing them to new things is one of the reasons I'm in this industry. A lot of mobile customers who wouldn't normally play this game type will now be exposed to it. I think that's a good reason to be excited!

(Oh what the hell...I'll throw my 2 cents in)

You shouldn't feel that you have to restate yourself.
Your first post was balanced enough that I came away
with the impression: "N-Gage isn't perfect for gaming,
but take a look at what they're doing to take the mobile
gaming platform forward"

So pat yourself on the back...

I am one of those "mobile customers who wouldn't normally play this game". I still have a hard time considering a cell phone a decent gaming platform but after reading your post, I actually found myself intrigued enough that I stopped to take a look at it on Tuesday.

(hmm...how do you overclock this damn thing...)

try ascii phone sex. worked for me.

Wow, an N-Gage game that could actually mean something?

This I gotta see.

>try ascii phone sex. worked for me.

how does that work? do you and your partner go back and forth blurting out ascii codes?
